| The success to which our agencies are able to
implement projects and realize their mandate depends largely on the
involvement of volunteers giving a variety of service. Their contribution to
the development of our nation is linked to the spiritualism of volunteerism
that has stood the test of time.
The volunteer of the year for 2004
Mrs. Gloria Edwards is the retired registrar of Companies and a long
standing member of the Business and Professional Women's Club (BPW) of St.
Andrew
She was involved in the establishment of the Elsie Bernard Home by the
(BPW) and the Methodist Church in 1979 and served on the Board of the Home
for 20 years. Mrs. Edwards gave invaluable service on the Board of United
Way of Jamaica and Back to the Bible Broadcast.
Her greatest delight however is the personal development of the girls
many of whom have grown into responsible professionals in both the private
and public sectors. For her volunteerism is a truly rewarding experience and
holds to her Christian promise "to be her brothers keeper".
CVSS member agencies are urged to encourage their volunteers to fill out
their registration forms and return them to the NRV as soon as possible.
